For the last three and a half years the Youth for Fair Trade project has worked with 180 young people to help them become advocates of Fair Trade – a movement that has challenged governments, companies and consumers to change the way we think about trade and to ensure that producers receive a fair deal. 

Our partner, Y Care International has produced for us a Youth for Fair Trade Resource Pack. It has been designed for teachers and youth workers to help them connect young people to the key values of fairness and equality; to explore what fair trade means to them; and to support them to take action to make the world a fairer place.

Come along and hear inspirational speakers at the Fairtrade Foundation Supporter Conference 2011 in Birmingham

This year, rather than holding our own Youth for Fair Trade conference we are working with the Fairtrade Foundation and People & Planet to bring you activities at their conferences especially for young people.

So, at the Fairtrade Supporter Conference they have introduced a session on harnessing Social Media to promote your activities and in another session you can also hear from our partners, Y Care International about the projects that the young people involved in Youth for Fair Trade have been running and the new packs we are producing that help young people become advocates of Fair Trade!

There will also be an after party until 6.30pm – including live entertainment, Fairtrade nibbles, more chances to network and share experiences, so make sure you book a later train so you can come along!

Students from Barrs Hill School and Community College will be hosting a tasting of Fairtrade products at the AT7 Sports Centre Bell Green Road, just off the A444 in Coventry.

The event will be on Saturday 8th April 2011 between 1pm and 3pm. There will be lots of chocolate from Divine plus teas and coffees (subject to availability). Do come along to sample these products and discover how good they are and learn how you help people have a better life when you choose them over products that do not carry the FAIRTRADE Mark!
